First, at some point you will need to design and develop websites. To the novice this can sound intimidating, but in today's world it really isn't. there are many options available for people of varying skill levels.

Second, since a web business is more than a website...you also need additional business software tools to conduct, track and automate the business operations.

And this TECHNOLOGY has to be operational...BEFORE you can start to do business.

The technology involved to make this happen is complex and if not done correctly, can be expensive.

WHICH WAY TO GO?

Until recently, people have had two choices:

1. Hire and manage an experienced webmaster to design, update, and operate their online technologies (at an ongoing rate of $2,000 to $5,000 a month!)

OR

2. Learn enough about the technologies to set up and manage the technologies required YOURSELF.

That means learning some HTML, setting up a hosting account, learning to FTP file to the webserver, buying and learning lots of software applications, trying to make the ecommerce engines work, etc. etc.

Since most people either don't have the money or the skills to hire a webmaster, they attempt to learn it themselves. This usually requires 12-24 months of late night struggling,
BEFORE they see their first dime.

And most people don't make it. They simply get defeated by the complexity of the technologies.
